North America's first hydrogen-powered train is taking passengers for the summer in Quebec.

"Hydrogen is the fuel of the future - and it always will be" is The Economist's running joke. But there's real reason to be optimistic that the future is now, at least in certain market sectors where there is a plausible path to cost parity with batteries or other decarbonizing technologies.
